Department of Information & Communication Technology

SUNY Potsdam's Department of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) offers four master's degree options. Each of our programs prepares students for technology leadership and management positions in businesses and organizations in private industry, the military, social service agencies, K-12 schools and higher education.
   
1. The Educational Technology Specialist
 
This concentration leads to a New York State Educational Technology Specialist certificate (Pre K-12). This program also meets the professional standards established by the New York State Education Department (NYSED) and by the Association for Educational Communications and Technology (AECT) for NCATE. This concentration also leads to a New York State Professional Certification in the candidates existing New York State Certification Area. EDUC_global: NCATE Accreditation Logo
   
2. Human Performance Technology
 

This concentration is intended to prepare students for careers in human performance improvement, training, and organizational development. **

   
3. Organizational Leadership and Management
 

This concentration is intended for individuals seeking employment in leadership or management positions in organizations such as higher education, social service agencies and the military. **

   
4. Information Technology
 

This concentration is intended for individuals seeking employment in media and product development. Students can focus their program into our Networking, , Web Development, Media Production, or Game Development tracks. **

5. Technology Educator
 

This program is intended for students with existing New York State Teaching Certificates who wish to become better technology using teachers. This concentration leads to a New York State Professional Certification in the candidates existing New York State Certification Area.

   
   
NOTATION
  Students in the ICT program will be working with computers and computer applications throughout their program of study. As such, it is required that all students own, or have regular access to, a personal computer which can be used outside of class. No preference is given to Windows or Macintosh.
