Move in day should be one of the most exciting days of your life, but we also know that it can cause tremendous anxiety.
In an effort to give you an idea of what to expect before you arrive, we have prepared the following information.
When to Arrive
New Students!
Move in for new students will happen on Thursday, August 22, 2024 from 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. We ask that you help us prepare for your arrival by letting us know the approximate time you plan to arrive to campus. You'll be able to schedule your arrival starting August 1st, 2024. All students should plan to arrive by 4pm so that you can move in and be prepared to fully participate in your new student welcome activities, which will start that day at 5pm. If you are going to arrive after 4 p.m., please go directly to your assigned building to be checked in.
When you arrive on campus, you will enter on Canton Drive (enter Canton Drive, Potsdam NY into your GPS) and follow the signs to complete our Drive-Through Check-in process. Click here to see the check in map! If your Potsdam Student Card was mailed home to you, please do not forget to bring that with you as you will need it to access your building. The PACES business office will be open for students who do not have their student card. You will receive the keys to your room at check in and then be directed to your residence hall.
Returning Students!
Move in for returning students is scheduled for Saturday, August 24, 2024 & Sunday, August 25, 2024. Please make sure to remember to pack your Potsdam Student ID card. If you stored items on campus over the summer, make sure that you also remember your storage key.
Check-in for returning students will start each morning at 10 a.m. in the following locations:
- Bowman East Residents: Bowman East Main Lobby
- Bowman West Residents: Bowman West Main Lobby
- Draime Residents: Bowman East Main Lobby
- Lehman Residents: Lehman Southwest Lounge (outside of the RA Office)
- Townhouse Residents: Lehman Southwest Lounge (outside of the RA Office)
- Van Housen Residents: Bowman West Main Lobby
If you arrive after 7 p.m., you will go to the RA office of your area to check in.
Things you might need off campus
If you forgot something, or wanted to wait until you arrived to purchase something for your room, Walmart is only a short 5 minute car ride away. Just head off campus on Pierrepont Ave and follow Route 11 west about 3 miles.
