N. E. Regional Lifelong Learning Conference
PRE-CONFERENCE SEMINAR (limit 50 participants): "Music: Follow the Beat to Well-Being" We encourage you to join us in the pre-conference program as we celebrate music and how it plays a role in your overall well-being and health. This part of the conference will take place in Hosmer Hall, the recently renovated concert hall of the Crane School of Music. Music is known to reduce tension and anxiety as well as feelings of isolation and solitude. The afternoon will focus on various expressions of music and exercise to help us obtain a sense of health and well-being. Highlights will include mini-lectures, intereactive Tai-Chi, and selected musical pieces for piano and organ.
KEY NOTE SPEAKER: We are especially thrilled to announce that our Keynote Speaker will be Nancy Merz-Nordstrom, Director of the Elderhostel Learning Network and, more recently, author of Learning Later, Living Greater: The Secret for Making the Most of Your After-50 Years. The title of Nancy's keynote address is "Learning Later, Living Greater: A Global Leitmotif." Join Nancy in an exploration of later-life learning around the world, from the U.S. to Europe, Asia, Australia and New Zealand. She will discuss the latest concepts, innovations and recurring themes - information that will enlighten everyone who is interested in making their After-50 years the very best possible. All aboard for a whirlwind round-the-world tour.
OPENING DAY AFTER DINNER ENTERTAINMENT: We are happy to share with you one of our best local musical groups from the faculty of the Crane School of Music - The Potsdam Brass Quintet: Kelly Drifmeyer, horn; Dr. John Ellis, trumpet; Dr. Mark Hartman, trombone; Dr. James Madeja, trumpet and Dr. Charles Guy, tuba.
