SUNY Potsdam hosted five excellent candidates for campus interviews from February 18 through March 4. Open Forums were attended by campus constituents and community members for each candidate.
Feedback via web surveys was collected and reviewed by the Presidential Search Committee, which held its final meeting on March 5. The committee then made recommendations to the SUNY Potsdam College Council, which has sent three names to the Chancellor for review. SUNY Chancellor Nancy L. Zimpher will make the final recommendation to the SUNY Board of Trustees, which is the appointing authority.
SUNY Potsdam is in the process of a search for the College's sixteenth president, who will lead the campus into its third century of excellence. Academic Search, an executive search firm, has been retained to assist the College throughout the process. A search committee was appointed in October 2013, and SUNY Chancellor Nancy L. Zimpher delivered her charge to the committee at its first meeting on November 4, 2013. The search process is following the guidelines set forth by the SUNY Board of Trustees, with an anticipated start date of July 1, 2014 for the new president.
