Libraries: The Frederick W. Crumb Memorial Library, located in the center of the academic quadrangle, houses more than more than 1,030,000 items, including 392,000 bound volumes, 653,000 microforms and other non-book materials, 58,000 federal and state documents and 1,300 active periodicals, as well as subscriptions to a variety of databases, which help meet all the information needs of 21st-century students. The library faculty assists students in developing their ability to identify, evaluate and retrieve appropriate information to support their academic endeavors or their personal interests.
The Crane Music Library, located in the Crane complex, houses an extensive collection of music books, scores and sound recordings. The library also offers sophisticated audio equipment for use by groups as well as individuals.
Computer Resources: The College has over 400 computers for student use in computer labs and classrooms located throughout the campus. The main facility is always staffed, has color printing available and is open approximately 100 hours a week. In addition, each dorm room has a direct network connection for students who bring their own computer. This allows for access to campus resources as well as the Internet.
Faculty use technology extensively, with access to 36 "smart classrooms" that include networked computers, multimedia resources and projectors which allow for advanced instructional presentations. All faculty and staff offices have Internet access.
Performance Facilities: The Crane Music Center houses three modern performance halls for music and dance as well as numerous practice and rehearsal rooms.
The College Theater is principally used for drama productions and is divided into the main stage, which is a modified proscenium format that seats approximately 300, and the Black Box Theater, which seats approximately 100, and provides the opportunity for non-traditional theatrical events. The campus has still another hall for lyric theater and dance.
Roland Gibson Gallery: The College houses six fine arts studios and the Roland Gibson Gallery, a recently renovated museum containing three exhibition galleries. The Gibson Gallery displays exhibitions throughout the year as well as its extensive permanent collection.
Maxcy Hall Athletic Complex: With more than 50 acres of outdoor athletic fields 20 tennis courts, a quarter-mile track and new lacrosse and soccer turf fields, Potsdam's $25.2 million complex offers plenty of opportunities to exercise or play a sport.
Maxcy Hall's indoor facilities feature three maximum-size gymnasiums, a swimming pool, an ice rink, racquetball/squash courts, an exercise center and a field house. These facilities are open to members of the campus community and to members of the public who belong to the Maxcy Club.
Students have the opportunity to become part of the varsity athletic teams, which compete at the NCAA Division III level, or join of one the more than 24 intramural and recreation sports at SUNY Potsdam.
