Week of May 14, 2012


Project:  Energy Management System Upgrade (SUCF #12294)

Description
Install a new Honeywell Energy Management System to monitor and control various mechanical, utilities, heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems throughout the academic buildings.  System generates reports and helps optimize energy usage on the campus. 

Weekly Outlook
Punch list being completed.

Impact on Campus Activities
There will be temporary interruptions to the water supply in Timerman, Van Housen and Maxcy during a scheduled shut down to install new water meters (exact date not yet known).

Spring 2012


Project: Maxcy Hall Arena Renovation

Description
Rehabilitate the Maxcy Ice Arena and its support spaces including locker and team rooms, offices, mechanical system components, new ceiling and lighting systems, bleachers and equipment for ice making and snow melt.

Weekly Outlook
Drawings are currently out for bidding purposes. 

Impact on Campus Activities
The arena will be offline for approximately one (1) year during construction.

Project:  Various Window Replacement

Description
Windows will be replaced in each of the following buildings, preliminary schedule included.
Dunn- July 16th thru Aug 10th, 2012
Flagg- July 26th thru Aug 17th,2012
Sisson- Aug 6th thru Aug 17th, 2012
Sisson- May 20th thru Jun 7th, 2013
Stowell- Jun 3rd thru Jul 21st, 2013
Van Housen- Jun 21st thru Aug 13th, 2013

The exact schedule has not yet been determined, but is planned to begin next summer and continue over a two (2) year period.

Project:  Additional Campus Chiller Capacity

Description
An additional electric chiller and cooling tower will be added to increase the campus cooling capacity due to new buildings being added to the cooling system.

Pre- design.

Impact on Campus Activities
There will be minimal impact (if any) to the campus during the duration of this project.

Late Summer 2013


Project: Steam Tunnel Repairs

Description
Repair and replace the condensate trap assemblies in the steam tunnel system throughout campus.

Weekly Outlook
Bid opening is scheduled for Monday, May 14th, 2012. 

Impact on Campus Activities
There will be obstructions in the various roads while the work is being completed in the man holes.

Project: Install Fiber Optic and Electronic Entrances (Card System) Various Academic Buildings (SUCF #12283)

Description
Installation of card access door hardware on various academic buildings.  Installation of new “campus wide” fiber optic network.

Weekly Outlook
For the Week of May 14th, the abatement contractor will be posting a 10 day notice on MacVicar Hall.  The week of May 21st, the contractor will be re-cleaning the crawlspace of MacVicar Hall and permanently sealing the floor.

Impact on Campus Activities
None expected.

Project:  Raymond HVAC and Windows (SUCF #12302)

Description  
Replacement of HVAC systems  and windows within Raymond Hall.  This will include the installation of new perimeter heating/cooling systems and cabinet enclosures.

Weekly Outlook  
For the Week of May 14th , the contractor will be installing countertops in the North and South sides of the 3rd floor.  The projected date for re-occupancy of the North side is May 25th, and May 30th for the South side.

Impact on Campus Activities
None expected.

Project: Flagg Elevator Replacement  (SUCF #12344)

Description
Installation of new ADA compliant elevator at the north end of Flagg Hall.

Weekly Outlook
For the Week of May 14th, the contractor will be completing the installation of suspended ceilings.

Project: Stowell Hall HVAC and Lab Renovation  (SUCF #12339)

Description
Installation of new HVAC system, lab casework and finished throughout.

Weekly Outlook
For the Week of May 14th, the contractor will be staging materials in preparation for the day after commencement.

Impact on Campus Activities
2nd floor Occupants will be relocated for the duration of the Summer of 2012.

Summer 2013


Project: New Performing Arts Building

Description
Construct a new performing arts building to house the needs on Theater and Dance. Studios, classrooms, faculty offices and three performance venues as well as support space will comprise this building. Weekly Outlook
Site and under slab utility, steel erection, masonry, concrete slab and fireproofing work is ongoing. 

Impact on Campus Activities
Parking Lot 7 and 1/2 of parking Lot 9 will be off line for the remainder of the project.

Project: Barrington Bathroom Project

Description
Renovate all eight bathroom facilities in Barrington Student Union.

Project: Upgrade Site Utilities Phase III

Description
Widen, rebuild and update utilities at Gouverneur, Watertown and Massena Drives. Replace utilities and parking in lots 20, 21, 22, 23, 24, 25, 25A, 14 and 16. Repair/ replace storm drainage and sidewalks throughout academic quad and in front of Satterlee Hall. Repair and/or remove retaining walls in residential quad and Maxcy areas. Update our Kiosk signs on campus. Replace the vehicular bridge at Maxcy, and provide new pedestrian bridge from Townhouses to Maxcy. Provide new sidewalk along Ogdensburg Drive from Townhouses to Barrington Drive.

Project: Loading Dock Rehab – Various Buildings

Description
Rehabilitate 8 loading docks on campus to include Schuette, Knowles, Kellas, Lehman, Crumb, Flagg, Brainerd and Carson.  Provide improved access, lighting, and general usability.

Complete contract negotiations and hold the pre-construction kick off meeting.

Project: Knowles Conference Center Rehab – Phase II

Description
Rehab the quad entrance and security measures for the Knowles Conference Center. Improvements to fireplace, lobby, accessibility, lighting, security, energy efficiency and quality of space.

Pre-bid walk through. Bids open on May 29th.

Project: Combined Heat and Power Plant

Description
Construct combined heat and power plant in the Heating plant Building.  Plant will be capable of providing approximately 70% of the campus’ electrical power requirements.

Weekly Outlook
Equipment installed.  Interconnect study with National Grid Company received, reviewing additional NatGrid requirements.  NatGrid estimate is $512,000 and 6 months to perform the work the study recommends.

Project:    Bowman Renovations Phase IV (Bowman Former Dining Hall and ELU areas)

Description 
Significant renovation of Bowman former Dining Hall and mechanical areas.

Weekly Outlook
Interior electrical, mechanical, plumbing, finishes.
Exterior  work on new exterior stairs.

Impact on Campus Activities
Infringement on pedestrian ways and parking areas around Bowman.

Project:    Maxcy Hall Roof Replacement

Description 
Remove and replace insulation and roofing on virtually all of Maxcy Hall.  Remove and infill at unused heating equipment.  This project involves the removal of some asbestos and PCB containing materials on the roof.

Weekly Outlook
Remove and replace edge blocking, insulation, and rubber on gymnasium roof.

Infringement on Parking Lot 27 and 29

Project:  Bowman Renovations Phase V (Bowman High Rise center bathrooms, laundry, electrical)

Description
At each floor, tie in new exterior stairs, renovate center bathrooms, replace electrical distribution, data/telephone/cable systems.

Weekly Outlook
Building to be posted in advance of asbestos abatement (abatement to begin 23 May).

Impact on Campus Activities
Infringement on parking areas and pedestrian ways around Bowman.
