SUNY Potsdam

Hey :) My name is Court. I grew up in Albany until I moved to Clifton Park with my family when I was 12. Before I transferred to Potsdam, I went to Hudson Valley Community College. Now, I’m one more semester away from graduating with a degree in Anthropology. I also play on the Potsdam Women’s Rugby team. My interest in sustainability started in high school when I joined the recycling club and we lobbied at the capital for environmentally-beneficial bills. When the Bigger Better Bottle Bill was passed, it became real to me that if enough people work hard at something, amazing things can be accomplished.

Hi, my name is Lauren Stafford and I am an 18-year-old freshman at SUNY Potsdam. I study in the field of Environmental Sciences with a minor in communication (because I love to write was an intern from the winter of 2010 to the summer of 2011 at a place in NYC called, “Solar One”. I am overall a very happy, bubbly girl who loves to have fun and make sure I still get all of my work done. I love being outdoors and not being afraid of who I want to be. When I am older I hope to work once again for Solar One or be on the news/a publisher for environmental issues.

My name is Megan O’Keefe and I am originally from Bethel, NY near the Catskills. I am a senior evironmental Studies major and Biology minor at SUNY Potsdam. I am also part of Middle Ground, the campus environmental club. After college I hope to pursue a career in Environmental Education for children as well as one day open my own environmentally friendly business. My favorite hobbies include hiking, creating up-cycled crafts and clothing, reading, and going to see live music!

Hi there my name is Kiana French and I am freshman Environmental Studies major,  Wilderness Education minor here at SUNY Potsdam. Someday I hope to be able to work in the research fields, but am not limiting my choices just yet.  I am originally from Livonia, New York, which is a very small town outside the city of Rochester. Growing up I did many  outdoor activities all around the world, which is what sparked my interest in Environmental Studies and the reason I am trying to make SUNY Potsdam’s campus more sustainable as well as implementing other sustainable projects elsewhere.

Hi there, my name is Kevin Murray, and I am junior here at SUNY Potsdam, studying music education and clarinet in Crane. Though I spend the school year up in the frozen North, I call Fairport, NY, just outside Rochester, home. I'm currently an RA in Bowman South, and I'm also involved in the Emerging Leaders program here on campus. When not stuck inside all day, I am a big kayaker, snowshoer and cross-country skier. I am really excited to be a part of the Sustainability Adviser program and help our campus move toward the future in new an exciting ways!

My name is Jessica and I am a junior Environmental Studies major and Political Science minor. I am interested in sustainability as a concentration and one day hope to become a sustainability adviser for a company. I love to be outside and this summer I will spend my summer traveling in Colorado through a camp from Missouri. I am currently on the Clarkson rowing team and I am a wellness advocate. During my free time I like to volunteer at the local elementary school as a mentor for Adopt a Bear.

Hi everyone! My name is Mark Sudak I am an Eagle Scout and an outdoor enthusiast. Scouting is the entire reason I am so into the outdoors in the first place. Sleep away camp is where I first hiked, caved, white water rafted and rock climbed. Now I am a student at SUNY Potsdam and pursuing my passion and love of the outdoors with a major in Environmental Studies and a minor in Wilderness Education. I come from a small town in southern NY but have always loved the Adirondacks so being this close has been a great experience so far.
