Sustainability Speaker Series

About the Series

For the spring semester SUNY Potsdam and area institutions have coordinated efforts to organize a Sustainability Speaker Series that highlights the challenges and solutions associated with creating a more sustainable world.  The series addresses a multitude of topics, elucidating the breadth and complexity of various sustainability issues ranging from renewable energy technologies and climate education to sustainable agriculture and invasive species. Our speakers include professors, experts and thought leaders from across the public, private and corporate sectors.

The Sustainability Speaker Series was designed to accelerate awareness of environmental, economic and social concerns through presentations, and interactive demonstrations. The primary goal of such a collaborative program is to stimulate discussion, and inspire action among our campus communities.

Following each presentation there is a "Round Table" discussion that is open to anyone interested in deepening the conversation around sustainability. The final discussion will be comprised of student representatives from all the participating colleges and will take place during Earth Week at the end of April.

Collectively the Sustainability Speaker Series and Round Table discussions provide an innovative platform where students can channel their knowledge, awareness, and dialogue into sustainable action on our campuses and in the North Country Community.
