20 Things to do before you graduate
- Take a walk with friends through Ives Park; then park yourselves in the gazebo and listen to the echoes of your voices. Oh-and check out the view.
- Write an article or a letter to the editor of the Racquette. There is no better time to be heard than the present.
- See a student-directed/written theatre production in the Blackbox or College Theatre, in Satterlee Hall.
- Play a game of pool at Pete’s Place.
- Rent a canoe from Venture Outdoors and enter the Racquette River at Lehman Park.
- Attend Art Attack, the annual juried art show at Gibson Gallery.
- Read the Blueline, the literary magazine dedicated to the spirit of the Adirondacks.
- Walk the Stone Valley Trail in Colton, NY. Pack plenty of gorp and water.
- Attend a concert at Crane.
- Go to Lake Placid for the day.
- Watch a live performance at Jack & Weezie’s (formerly The Fields Coffee House).
- Go with a group of friends down to the Village Diner and enter the Flapjack Attack Challenge-represent SUNY Potsdam & make your alma mater proud.
- Join and commit to a club on campus for a semester. It will change your life.
- Work off the super-sized pancake you wolfed down at the Village Diner by heading to the Shane T. Shaul Fitness Center in Maxcy Hall.
- Stop and listen to the Satterlee clock tower play the “Potsdam Alma Mater” at noon. You’ll hear it again when you graduate.
- Attend Bear Pride Night and feel the energy resonating from your fellow students, showing pride for the Bear.
- Find something to read and pick a quiet far-off corner in Crumb Library to camp-out for a few hours. While you’re there, imprint the smell of the books to your memory.
- Travel abroad. There are no substitutions for immersion into a different culture. You just have to do it.
- Go watch a Cinema Ten film at the Roxy.
- Get someone to take your picture next to the Minerva Statue on campus.
