The SUNY Potsdam Math Alliance is a student-run organization on campus that gathers math lovers and enthusiasts from across the Potsdam campus to learn and explore fun new math topics outside of the classroom.
Math Alliance events include mixers, puzzle and game nights, "Math movie" nights, and trips to local Math conferences. The Math Alliance also promotes Mathematics to the wider SUNY Potsdam community by hosting events such as "Who Wants To Be A Mathematician!"
Membership is open to all SGA (Student Government Association) fee-paying students. SUNY Potsdam's SGA officially recognized the Math Alliance in 2008. The founding officers are President Tiffany Terpstra, Vice-President Jesse Dettmer, Secretary Colleen Fagan, and Treasurer Meagan Griffin.
The purpose of this club shall be to foster an appreciation of mathematics at the collegiate level and explore areas of mathematics other than those covered in the curriculum. Also, this club shall act as a forum for math enthusiasts of all kinds, on a non-professional level.
Membership is open to all SGA fee-paying students. One is considered a member after attending 3 meetings or activities during one semester.
