You must be a U.S. citizen or a permanent resident the time of the award. Scholars are selected from the list of eligible applicants ranked by academic merit.
Beginning Study:
Beginning Studies Scholars will be freshman, beginning transfer students, or current SUNY Potsdam students who have not yet completed the gateway course in computer science or mathematics. Requirements for eligibility is broken down into those categories below.
Entering Freshmen:
At least three years of progressively more difficult high school mathematics courses sufficient to allow immediate enrollment in MATH 151 Calculus I.
SAT math score of at least 630 or ACT mathematics and science reasoning score of 27.
A combined (Math & Critical Reading) SAT of 1130 or overall ACT score of 25.
Entering Freshmen with prior college credit:
Students with less than 24 hours of college credit at the time of application will submit all of the same materials as students applying under the Entering Freshmen scholarship competition.

Transfer Students:
Transfer students will have completed at least 24 semester hours of college work by the time of application. Since transfer students are not expected to have completed a gateway course, they will be eligible for the beginning study scholarship by meeting the following requirements:
Advanced Study:
Advanced Study Scholars have been at SUNY Potsdam for a least one semester and have successfully completed the gateway course in computer science (CIS 300) or mathematics (MATH 340). Students selected as Advanced Study Scholars must meet the following requirements:
Graduate Study:
Graduate Study Scholars have been accepted into the graduate program in mathematics at SUNY Potsdam. Students selected as Graduate Studies Scholars must meet the following requirements:
