Undergraduate Research in Biology
Biology faculty at SUNY Potsdam are pursuing a number of research projects in which undergraduate researchers participate. These include:
Ecology & Evolutionary Biology
- Biodiversity of dragonflies and other aquatic insects
- Conservation biology of threatened vertebrates
- Diving ecology of air-breathing vertebrates (primarily seals)
- Pollinator communities in the Adirondacks
- Trophic ecology of aquatic communities
Cell & Molecular Biology
- Cell-extracellular matrix interactions in developing tissues
- Microscopy in cell biology (Electron, Fluorescence, AFM)
- Population genetics of aquatic insects
- Population studies and molecular systematics of dragonflies
Anatomy & Physiology
- Behavioral and physiological telemetry of seals and fish
- Bioenergetics of larval fishes
- Diving behavior and physiology of harbor seals
- Effects of catch-and-release angling on fish physiology and behavior
