The Crane School of Music offers programs leading to the Master of Music (MM) degree in Music Education (a thesis option and a non-thesis option), Performance, and Composition.* These programs are designed to meet student interests, needs and requirements within a framework that provides opportunities to pursue a balance of academic and professionally oriented courses. Full-time students with no deficiencies can usually earn a master's degree in Performance in three semesters of study. Music Education students may complete their program in two semesters of study (fall/spring) or in as few as three summer semesters.

Note: The Master of Music in Music Education at Crane can be completed as both a full-time student or as a summer-only student (with the option of taking online courses in the Fall and Spring semesters as well).
For students who have a Bachelor of Music degree in an area other than Music Education, and who are interested in getting both teacher certification and a Master of Music in Music Education degree, The Crane School of Music offers an opportunity to achieve this. Typically this program can be completed in two years plus an additional semester of student teaching.
* We are currently not accepting students into the Master of Music program in Composition as we redesign the degree.
