Phoenix Club

Phoenix Club (the oldest choral ensemble on campus) is a curricular women's choir comprised of SUNY Potsdam students who are involved in a variety of educational majors and concentrations. First-year female voice students are an essential part of this group. Phoenix Club gives women an opportunity to: 1) perform wonderful treble choir literature from many genres; 2) learn about women's voicing and blending within a women's choir; 3) sing with and learn from upperclassmen and their choral experiences; 4) develop beginning leadership experiences by leading sectionals and choral warm-ups, and; 5) grow musically and professionally with their female colleagues. Phoenix Club singers are involved each semester in two or more concerts. In addition to performing as an independent ensemble, singers have combined musical experiences with other Crane choral and instrumental ensembles. Candlelight Concert is an annual choral highlight providing holiday fare for the community and made available nationwide via public television. The annual Spring Festival presented the first weekend in May, showcases singers from all Crane choirs performing major choral and orchestral works.
