Course Auditing

Process        

  • Complete a Course Audit Application Form (Fillable PDF) - If you are unable to open the fillable PDF version, please feel free to use the Plain PDF version. Also available from the Office of Extended Education.
  • Obtain written permission from the course instructor on the first day of class
  • Obtain written permission from the Department Chair or Dean
  • Submit the completed form to the Office of Extended Education on or after the first day of classes with payment (if applicable)

Terms and Conditions

  • Courses are on a space available basis
  • May not sign up to audit a course before the first day of class
  • Permission may be revoked if a formally registered student wishes to enroll in the course
  • Auditors will not be enrolled in the course and will not be listed on the class roster
  • Auditors do not earn academic credit or any formal recognition
  • Auditors are not required to meet the requirements of the course
  • Instructor is not obligated to evaluate the auditor's work in any way
  • Auditors are subject to all appropriate guidelines and the student code of conduct
  • Application Fees may be charged (Technology fees, athletic fees, etc.)
High School Students       
  • Must be a junior or a senior
  • Have written permission from their principal or guidance counselor
  • Follow the process listed above        
Cost 

$50 per course

Exemptions from the audit fee

  • Current SUNY Potsdam Students
  • SUNY Potsdam Faculty
  • SUNY Potsdam Staff
  • SUNY Potsdam Alumni
  • Immediate family members of SUNY Potsdam faculty and staff
  • Senior Citizens (over the age of 60)
