Department of Secondary Education

The Department of Secondary Education prepares students for a career in teaching grades 7 - 12 with the option of a 5-6 extension. This department is responsible for programs leading to the:

  • B.A. degrees in English Education, French Education, Mathematics Education, Social Studies Education, Spanish Education and Science Education; 
  • MST programs in English Education, Mathematics Education, Science Education, and Social Studies Education;
  • M.S.Ed degrees for students who have earned their Initial certification in English,  mathematics, or social studies education and need to complete a master's degree to satisfy the academic requirements for their Professional certification.

All programs offered by the Department of Secondary Education have established criteria for knowledge, skills and dispositions that candidates must demonstrate to progress through their programs. It is the responsibility of the candidate to be familiar with the criteria and monitoring procedures that have been established for their programs.
