The Department of Secondary Education offers three degree programs in social studies education:
The BA Social Studies Education major is designed for students who wish to earn an undergraduate degree leading to Initial certification in Social Studies Education (7-12 with 5-6 extension).
The MST Social Studies Education degree program is designed for candidates who already hold an undergraduate degree in anthropology, economics, geography, history, politics, or sociology and who now seek Initial New York certification in Social Studies Education (7-12 with 5-6 extension).
The MSEd Adolescence Education: Social Studies degree program is designed for candidates who already hold Initial certification in Social Studies Education (7-12) and who now seek to earn their Professional certificate.
