Guidelines and Expectations for Pre-Student Teaching

Attendance

  • Students must provide their own transportation to and from the placement; not only is this an expectation, it is a requirement for participating in the pre-student teaching experience
  • Be on time! If you are going to be late or absent you must telephone and speak with your mentor teacher prior to the beginning of the school day; do not leave a voice message
  • You are expected to arrive prepared to participate 15 minutes prior to the beginning of each scheduled observation
  • Any missed time must be made up within two weeks

Professionalism

  • Students are not to initiate any contact with school personnel regarding a possible placement; placements must be made through the Center for School Partnerships and Teacher Certification
  • Any problems/concerns associated with the observation should first be discussed with the mentor teacher and college instructor and if not resolved, then with the Center for School Partnerships and Teacher Certification
