Thomas E. O'Shaughnessy Center for Assistive Technology
The center takes great pride in housing the Thomas E. O'Shaughnessy Center for Assistive Technology within its facility, with which the SUNY Potsdam community honored the memory of a colleague and friend, Tom O'Shaughnessy, who had been a member of the Special Education faculty at SUNY Potsdam from 1979 until his passing in 2002. This specialized computer technology is a fitting tribute to Tom, who was well known and respected for his expertise in assistive technology and his work with special education teachers and children in northern New York.
The O'Shaughnessy Center greatly enhances the services offered by the Sheard Literacy Center by providing special technology for area students with physical and learning disabilities. Assistive technology includes various software, courseware (CD-ROMs) and hardware to meet the multiple learning needs of people with physical, sensory or learning limitations and disabilities. All services are provided at no charge to those who request assistance. For more information regarding the Thomas E. O'Shaughnessy Center for Assistive Technology, please contact Chris Remick, coordinator, at (315)267-2509 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
