Information for Faculty & Staff

The mission of the Office of Early College Programs is to provide access to advanced academic programs and pre-college programs for motivated high school students. SUNY Potsdam is proud to offer opportunities for local high school students to get a jump start on their college career by earning college credits while in High School or by facilitating the transition to college early.

College in High School "CHS":

  • SUNY Potsdam credit issued to high school students who take approved advanced coursework at the high school from their high school teacher
  • Significantly reduced fee per course, typically around $125 per course (or $75 per course for students eligible for free or reduced lunch at their high school)
  • Students are considered part-time non-matriculated students

College Advancement Program "CAP":

  • Traditional or home-schooled students may take regularly scheduled courses offered by SUNY Potsdam from SUNY Potsdam instructors for college credit
  • Subject to same tuition and fees as other students
  • Students are considered part-time non-matriculated students

College Unlimited @ SUNY Potsdam "CUSP":

  • A formal early admission program for accelerated high school juniors and seniors who which to enter college early
  • First cohort will be Fall 2017 and will be setup as a residential FIG (first year interest group)
  • Students are subject to same tuition and fees and are not eligible for federal or state financial aid until high school graduation requirements have been completed
  • Students are considered full-time matriculated students
