Majors & Minors
The physics major is designed to develop competence in fundamental areas of classical and modern physics. Courses start with Newtonian physics, and introduce quantum ideas and Einstein’s relativity later. Scientific experimentation in the laboratory complements the theoretical principles in lecture presentations. Problem solving and computational skills are emphasized.
“The physics professors at SUNY Potsdam have given me more individual attention in one semester than I received throughout twelve years of school.”- Dipesh Chatterjee ’04, 3-2 Engineering Major
