The Aftermath of Irene: Long-Term Effects of a Natural Disaster on Community Relationships
In the summer of 2011, as Hurricane Irene swept through much of the East Coast, Keene, NY experienced severe flooding and destruction. My project will be looking at how this disaster changed the relationships between the community members of Keene. My goal is to address how community members interacted during the reconstruction process and what socioeconomic factors may have influenced their interactions. Furthermore, I will explore how these interactions affected their overall sense of community.
