Analysis of Fear: Psychological Aspects and Depictions Throughout the History of Art
The feeling of fear is somewhat of an abstracted form of expression that is not easily depicted yet is something that all individuals can relate to. Most images of fear throughout the history of art deal with individuals enduring a fearful situation as well as particular facial expressions, rather than a sense of fear itself as an emotion. My goal is to research artwork that displays aspects of fear and psychological aspects of fear. Based on my research, I will create four paintings that depict individuals facing a fearful situation and portray fear-based facial expressions. This project is important to my academics because for the first time I am implementing research methods into my artwork. If the research method is successful, I would like to continue with research methods for my artwork in the future.
