Preserving the Oral Histories of Traditional Artists in New York
(Dr. Bethany Usher, Advisor)
As an archaeology major, I have realized the importance of preserving the oral histories of many aspects of our society so that they are not lost to time. My project is to collect and archive the memoirs of traditional artists here in New York state. The histories and works of many traditional artists such as painters and quilters often go undocumented and so I hope that by interviewing and archiving these memoirs they will be available to the public and thus preserved for many generations to come.
