Medieval Illuminated Manuscripts: Visual Narrative and Symbolic Content
Medieval illuminated manuscripts are a significant part of art history because they show the intersection of religion and art. Illuminations are highly decorated illustrations, which usually accompany a Christian text. Spirituality is an integral aspect of illuminations, which often combine symbolic forms with decorative motifs to convey a narrative. Using art historical materials and my own designs, I will recreate some of the stylistic features of art from the middle ages. Through this research, I intend to improve my abilities as a narrative artist.
