A Paleodemograhpic Study of Berlin Cemetery, Berlin NJ
I will be conducting a paleo-demographic study at Berlin Cemetery in Berlin, New Jersey. This will seek to find the life expectancies of the population and how it changed between 1870 and 1969 by taking a random sample of headstones and gathering birth and death dates from these. A statistical analysis of the data will seek to find life expectancies, death rates among age groups, and changes over time. I will also be exploring family groups to find the life expectancies of families from this cemetery population. Finally, I will use historical records to correlate events in the past with the statistical data to gain a better understanding of the changes seen in life expectancies.
