- Adeola Awomolo is at the Harvard Medical School in conjunction with the Harvard School of Public Health this summer (2009), which follows her 2008 internship at the Yale Medical School. Adeola has already been accepted to the Upstate Medical School following graduation at SUNY Potsdam.
- Danielle Mitton's Liszt Transcriptions for Chamber Ensembles has been accepted for publication by Imagine Music in Medina, NY. We hope to see her scores at www.imaginemusicpublishing.com this fall.
- Katherine Scott presented a poster of her Presidential Scholars research project "The Effectiveness and Resistance of Common Bactericidal Cleaning Products" at the American Society of Microbiology (ASM) meeting in Philadelphia, PA on May 17-21, 2009. Katie will be pursuing a Master's degree in Biotechnology and Business at San Jose State University in California in the Fall 2009.
- SUNY Potsdam Summer Research Faculty/Student grants were awarded to two Scholars:
(1) Banu Kandemir collaborates with Chemistry Professor Dr. Fadi Bou-Abdallah on "Thermodynamic Investigation of the Binding of Transferrin to its Receptor Using Isothermal Titration Calorimetry."
(2)Lauren Kline is researching " A Fifty State Comparative Study of Gubernatorial Clemency" with Dr. Jack McGuire in the Politics Dept.
- Kilmer Undergraduate Research Apprentices for Spring 2009 were granted to four Presidential Scholars: (1) Adeola Awomolo collaborating with Dr. Fadi Bou-Abdallah (Chemistry)
(2) Banu Kandemir collaborating with Dr. Fadi Bou-Abdallah (Chemistry)
(3) Katherine Scott collaborating with Dr. Clifford Rossiter (Chemistry)
(4) Emily Stephan collaborating with Dr. Michael Rygel (Geology)
- Kilmer Undergraduate Research Poster Excellence Award, First Place was awarded to Banu Kandemir for her Learning and Research Fair poster "The Binding of Human Transferrin to the Transferrin Receptor and the Delivery of Iron to Cells."
- Guest artist and Presidential Scholar, Amanda Hayden, presented three Fiddling Workshops to the Foxlane Middle School, in the Bedford City School district for the "Celebrating Stories Through the Eyes of the Artist" Rainbow Arts Day, May 21, 2009. Amanda also organized a concert and workshops by Bruce Molsky in March, 2009.
- Spring Theatre Festival production of Transfigured Night by Erin Harrington was presented in May 2009. Erin's play was chosen for the Advanced Playwriting Workshop at the Kennedy Center in the Summer of 2008.
- Benefit Concert in February 2009 raises $483 for the Ovarian Cancer Research Foundation. Organized by Beth Oaks, twenty performers, four of whom are Presidential Scholars:
