Exploring Cerdec-Degussa Inclusion Pigments and their effect in various clay bodies
As an art studio major, I have developed a strong interest in ceramics. While there are many different areas in ceramics to explore, I have chosen to look closer at color development. My program is designed to compare and contrast the rare approach of adding stains into a clay body, to that of the common glazing technique. I will be testing multiple stains on different clay bodies to show the range of hues that are possible.
After testing the stain colors I will then be able to show how colors from stains differ from glazes not just in the ranges of hues, but also in their effect on clay texture, control of color application and control of achieving desired colors.
