Admissions and Application Requirements

Competitive freshman applicant:   

  • 88 or higher Grade Point Average (GPA)
  • 4 credits each of English, social studies, and foreign language, 3 credits each of math and science, and 1 credit of fine or performing arts

Minimal freshman requirements:

  • 80 GPA for regular admission

Please consider students falling just below regular admission requirements for either our Bridges or EOP Programs.

Competitive transfer applicant:

  • 2.5 GPA or higher

Scholarships

Scholarship applications are required for your students to be considered for awards.  Freshman scholarship applications are due by February 15th.  Transfer scholarships should be on file by May 1st.  Please click here for eligibility requirements.

 

Modern Language Requirement

Encourage your students interested in SUNY Potsdam to take four years of a modern language.  All SUNY Potsdam students must take and pass a course numbered 103 in a language sequence as part of our General Education Requirements.  However, students who have at least four years of high school study of the same language or have earned a 3 or higher on an AP language exam will be exempt from this requirement.
