Advisement

As part of the graduate experience at SUNY Potsdam, each student is assigned an academic program adviser. Graduate students are required to read, understand and retain all materials sent to them during the admission process.

Graduate Students are also required to meet with their adviser upon acceptance into the program to complete their Approved Program of Studies Form and to plan a timeframe for fulfilling their degree requirements. This process is designed to help students planning their coursework and educational experiences so that they might best accomplish their professional goals.

To make the most of these advisement opportunities, it is strongly recommended that new students contact their advisers soon after acceptance. Due to limited availability of advisers during the summer, it is strongly recommended that students meet with their advisers during the academic year.
