Crane School of Music is nationally renowned and respected, and the reputation of this diploma will drastically increase my chances of securing a decent job. It’s also located in a beautiful area with a wonderful sense of community. What is your favorite location on campus and why? I love doing performances in Hosmer Hall – the sound resonates through the entire audience, and there’s a great feeling that accompanies that action. What are your career goals? I hope to be some kind of music teacher in the school system. I also plan to continue being a church organist/choir director accompanying and directing musicals, and I also hope to open a private piano studio. What is your favorite Potsdam tradition? First Saturday – I enjoy the energy, excitement and giveaways as people learn about all the places in town have to offer – but I also might be biased from winning the $100 gift certificate to use anywhere in Potsdam this year! What has SUNY Potsdam given you the opportunity to do that you have never tried before? I was able to play organ in a master’s class for Frederick Swann – he is world famous as an organist and I doubt I would have had the opportunity to meet him if I hadn’t come here. Who is your favorite professor? Laura Toland – she’s a fantastic music teacher, and also incredibly caring. She offers so much valuable insight. What is your favorite restaurant in town? There are so many! Mamma Lucia’s is excellent for Italian food. (Did I spell that right?) What is your favorite activity on campus? Playing music, rock-climbing, kayaking |
