Alumni Scholarship - Application Deadline: February 1

The SUNY Potsdam Alumni Association takes great pride in offering to the children, grandchildren and even parents of the college's alumni the opportunity to compete for a scholarship at SUNY Potsdam. The scholarship is valued at a minimum of $1,000 for one year. This is a one-time award for any student.

Scholarship Application Guidelines
In order to be considered for the scholarship, an individual must be the child, grandchild or parent of a SUNY Potsdam graduate; be nominated by said SUNY Potsdam graduate; be an incoming freshman, incoming transfer student, or current student (no more than one scholarship will be awarded to a current student); submit a completed scholarship application; agree to make academic credentials available for review by the Association Scholarship committee; agree to release his or her name for any college-initiated publicity.

Criteria:
** High school and/or college academic performance
** Participation in school/community activities
** Documented leadership capabilities
** Seriousness of purpose in pursuing a college education
** Written comments submitted by both the applicant and the nominator (Potsdam alum)
** Other criteria as designated by the committee
** Any other information submitted (i.e. additional letters of recommendation, awards)
** Only applications reviewed prior to February 1 will be considered by the committee for the following fall semester
**Completion of the essay requirement (250 words).  Topic: “Why I have chosen Potsdam, and what educational opportunities I would like to explore at Potsdam."
