Potsdam Scientists and Students Participate in BioBlitz 2007
SUNY Potsdam Biology faculty Drs. Jan Trybula and Glenn Johnson presented at the recent Bioblitz 2007 event held at the Paul Smiths Interpretive Center. The 24-hour event allows scientists and citizens to join forces to intensively survey an area’s species.

SUNY Potsdam prof heads to China to exhibit his ceramics at museum opening
SUNY Potsdam Associate Professor of Art Marc Leuthold recently represented the College at the opening ceremonies of the USA Ceramic Art Museum of the FuLe International Ceramic Art Museums (FLICAM) in Fuping, China.

Jeffery B. Lazovik, the former assistant director of SUNY Potsdam’s Counseling Center, was recently named the director after an extensive search.

Russells create SUNY Potsdam scholarship to encourage distance education
To encourage SUNY Potsdam students to broaden their educational experience by taking courses through distance education, Thomas L. and Jane D. Russell of Raleigh, NC, have established a distance education scholarship that coincides with Mr. Russell’s 50th Class Reunion at SUNY Potsdam.

SUNY Potsdam celebrates its best fund-raising year ever
SUNY Potsdam closed its 2006-2007 fiscal year with its best fundraising year in the College’s 191-year history with nearly $3.3 million raised and earned a number of accolades giving the campus national recognition.

SUNY Potsdam full-tuition scholarship established in memory of Jefferson County teacher
John E. Shattuck of Brownville has established a full-tuition endowed scholarship at SUNY Potsdam in memory of his wife, Class of 1975 alumna Susan Holly Dierks, that will help finance the education of an early childhood education major.

SUNY Potsdam is celebrating its 20th year as a Science and Technology Entry Program (STEP) college. Potsdam is one of the original schools to feature the program and serves the most Native American students of any New York State STEP college.

Save the date for World in Potsdam Diversity Festival this Fall
The 14th Annual World in Potsdam Diversity Festival will bring together members of the Potsdam community in celebration of the village’s unique and diverse cultural heritage through music, dance, art and food on Saturday, October 13, from noon to 4:30 p.m. in SUNY Potsdam’s Barrington Student Union Multi-Purpose Room.

LaVine CYM Scholarship established at SUNY Potsdam
Friends and colleagues of Crane Professor Emeritus Scott LaVine, former director of Crane Youth Music, have established the Scott LaVine CYM Scholarship to assist Crane Youth Music campers who have financial need.
