College Headlines

475 SUNY Potsdam Students "Make a Difference" with 850 Volunteer Hours
When SUNY Potsdam and its students say they are committed to making a difference locally, regionally and nationally, they don’t mess around. Approximately 475 students contributed more than 850 hours – the equivalent of more than 35 days – of volunteer work during the College’s “Make a Difference Week.”  (Read more)

SUNY Potsdam's Circle K Club: Making efforts that last
The Circle K Club at SUNY Potsdam was busy volunteering during the College’s “Make a Difference Week” right along side many other SUNY Potsdam students and organizations, but for Circle K, volunteering and making a difference is more than a week-long event. National survey consistently confirms SUNY Potsdam's academic excellence
According to the results of a recent national survey, seniors and first-year students rank SUNY Potsdam above public and private peer institutions for numerous academic and social opportunities as well as for engaging practices associated with high levels of learning and development.  (Read more)

SUNY Potsdam community gets QPR training to prevent suicides
Because suicide is the second leading cause of death amongst college students, SUNY Potsdam is taking a proactive approach to teach faculty, staff and students how to identify the warning signs of a potential suicide crisis and the methods that can be used to prevent it.  (Read more)

SUNY Potsdam student wins second place in national research competition
SUNY Potsdam junior Jeremiah Miller recently won second place for his research poster at the Historically Black Colleges and Universities Undergraduate Program (HBCU-UP) National Research Conference in Atlanta, GA, in late October. Miller, a triple major in biology, community health and psychology, presented research he conducted over the summer at SUNY Stony Brook on chronic psychological stress.  (Read more)

Crane Candlelight Concerts to be broadcasted on WPBS-TV
The magical sounds of Potsdam’s annual holiday tradition, SUNY Potsdam’s Christmas Candlelight Concerts, can be relived this season as WPBS-TV broadcasts the 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006 and 2007 performances. The broadcasts will feature the Crane Chorus and Crane Orchestra as well as special guests.  (Read more)

Greek fundraiser for Cystic Fibrosis Foundation
 For Make a Difference Week, 13 Greek houses participated in a fundraiser for Cystic Fibrosis.  (Read more)

SUNY Potsdam's Psychology Club Holiday Fundraiser
The club manned stations at Giant Tiger and Wal-Mart in Potsdam and exceeded their totals from last year’s effort.  (Read more)

SUNY Potsdam’s Annual High School Science Lab Day
he Lab Day introduces high school students from throughout the North Country to geology, biology, chemistry and physics laboratory science at a college level and promotes the sciences as possible majors for college-bound students.  (Read more)
