Incoming or current students can apply for an Alumni Association Scholarship. Students must be the child or grandchild of a Potsdam Alum. The deadline for the Alumni Scholarship has been changed from February 1st to March 1st. For scholarship eligibility, visit:

Reunion 2011, Battle of the Bands!
Calling all Potsdam Bands - Did you and your friends have a band that played together while at Potsdam?  Are you ready to reunite for one night only?  As part of the Reunion 2011 festivities, we are looking to have a Battle of the Bands.  We are looking for all genres, ages and types.  We know that each era at the College had phenomenal talent, and we would love to see that talent on display again.  If you are interested in reuniting your band and participating in the Battle of the Bands on Friday, July 15, 2011, or have a band to recommend, please contact Amy Kellogg at, by February 1, 2011.  Logistics and details will be worked out as we determine the level and interest of those willing to participate.

Attention Crane Emeriti and Alumni!
The American String Teachers Association (ASTA) student chapter from Crane is looking for a few of your favorite recipes to make a Crane Faculty and Alumni cookbook next Fall. This cookbook will be used as a fundraiser for ASTA to help support efforts to send members to a conference in Kansas City next spring.  Feel free to donate up to 2 recipes. You can e-mail the recipes to ASTA's president, Andrew Fund,    The recipes should be geared towards college students' price range and cooking capabilities. Please be sure to include your name, the name of the dish, a complete list of ingredients with measurements, step-by-step instructions, and the approximate number of servings. We will have details on how to purchase the cookbook at a later date.   Recipe submission deadline is December 31, 2010.

SUNY, Crane School of Music Recognize Jazz Legend Wynton Marsalis with Honorary Doctor of Music Degree
The State University of New York, through SUNY Potsdam's Crane School of Music, is proud to announce that SUNY officials will award jazz legend Wynton Marsalis with an Honorary Doctor of Music degree in an upcoming New York City ceremony.  SUNY Chancellor Nancy L. Zimpher, who oversees all 64 campuses in the nation's largest comprehensive system of public higher education, will confer the honorary doctorate alongside SUNY Board of Trustees Chairman Carl T. Hayden on Dec. 10. (Read more)

Bears handle Fighting Saints, 74-59
The SUNY Potsdam men's basketball team defeated the College of St. Joseph (Vt.) 74-59 in the first round of the North Country Invitational at Clarkson University. Forward Anthony Williams (Long Island, N.Y./Upper Room Christian Academy) recorded a double-double for the Bears with a game-high 16 points and 12 rebounds. Sophomore guard Joshua Lambert (Brooklyn, N.Y./East New York Transit Tech) also contributed 12 points for Potsdam. (Read more)

Creative Spirit Hosts 5 Bands for Katya Greer Scholarship Benefit
The Creative Spirit Art Center hosted an event featuring five local bands to benefit the Katya Czerepak Greer Memorial Scholarship for art education students at SUNY Potsdam. (Read more)

Crane 'Rumba & Romance' Concert Combines Art with Latin Music
Sounds and images of salsa swirled together on November 20th as the Crane Latin Ensemble and visual artist Amy Swartelé returned for a collaborative performance in Sara M. Snell Music Theatre at SUNY Potsdam. (Read more)

Crane Saxophone Ensembles Present Afternoon Fall Concert
The three Crane Saxophone Ensembles presented a group fall concert at 3 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 19 in Sara M. Snell Music Theatre on the SUNY Potsdam campus. The ensembles, which consisted of the classic grouping of soprano, alto, tenor and baritone saxophone, each performed several prepared works. (Read more)
