2008 Alumni Awards – Nominations due February 1
Do you know of a Potsdam grad who has distinguished themselves in their field?  Or a recent grad whose career has flourished since graduation?  Nominate someone today for one of several alumni awards presented during Reunion Weekend in July.  There’s still time to submit your nomination, but don’t wait too long!  The deadline is February 1.

“Hairventions” winner of SUNY Potsdam's 29th Team Excellence Cup
After a semester of hard work and intense competition, team “Hairventions” was selected as the winner of the 29th Team Excellence Cup Competition at SUNY Potsdam. (Read more)

SUNY Potsdam's environmental group gets presidential endorsement for global warming educational initiative
SUNY Potsdam’s student environmental organization, The Middle Ground, has officially garnered support from College President Dr. John F. Schwaller for their efforts to organize a local symposium of the nationwide effort  “Focus the Nation: Global Warming Solutions for America.”  (Read more)

Potsdam takes home three SUNY Student Affairs Awards
SUNY Potsdam won top honors from the State University of New York’s Outstanding Student Affairs Awards in the Student Government and Organizations category for their work on “Promoting Engagement in Student Organizations.”  (Read more)    

Collaborative book by 15 SUNY Potsdam faculty published by SUNY Press 
After two years of being available in limited release, the collaborate work of 15 SUNY Potsdam educators has been released nationwide through SUNY Press.  (Read more)

Rose & Kiernan donates to SUNY Potsdam
Potsdam insurance firm Rose & Kiernan recently provided the Rose & Kiernan Scholarship at SUNY Potsdam for the fifth consecutive year.  (Read more)

SUNY Potsdam faculty and staff member share CASE kudos for work on world premiere opera
The work done by Mona Ouimet Vroman ’85, SUNY Potsdam development officer, and Carleen Graham, director of SUNY Potsdam’s Crane School of Music Opera Ensemble and faculty member, on the November 2006 world premiere opera event “The Sailor-Boy and the Falcon” featuring Metropolitan Opera star and alumna Stephanie Blythe ’93 has been selected by the Council for Advancement & Support of Education (CASE) District II 2008 Accolades Awards Program as the Silver Award winner in the Special Events/Individual Events Category.  (Read more)

SUNY Potsdam Psychology Club presents gifts to local children
The holiday season was made a bit brighter this year for youngsters in the area thanks to the efforts of SUNY Potsdam’s Psychology Club. Working with Cerebral Palsy of the North Country, the club earned money to purchase gifts and delivered them to seven local children served by the agency.  (Read more)

National survey consistently confirms SUNY Potsdam's academic excellence
According to the results of a recent national survey, seniors and first-year students rank SUNY Potsdam above peer institutions for numerous academic and social opportunities as well as for engaging practices associated with high levels of learning and development.  (Read more)

SUNY Potsdam offering part-time graduate teacher-education program in Ottawa
The State University of New York at Potsdam’s School of Education and Professional Studies is now offering a part-time Master of Science in Teaching (MST) Program tailored to the needs of adult learners in Ottawa that will lead to Ontario certification in the primary and junior divisions.   (Read more)

The Crane School of Music dedicates Steinway pianos
The campus will celebrate the dedication of its Steinway pianos with a concert featuring Crane performers.  A pre-concert lecture will be given by James Barron of the New York Times.
Lecture at 1:00 p.m. in Wakefield Lecture & Recital Hall; Concert at 3:00 p.m. in Hosmer Hall.
 

Wednesday, February 27
CPS presents vocal legend, Bobby McFerrin and Voicestra in Hosmer Hall.
He put smiles on all of our faces with the hit, “Don’t Worry Be Happy”.   He has received ten GRAMMY Awards and sold over 20 million copies of his recordings.  www.cpspotsdam.org.
