Nominate someone for one of the Alumni Association Awards presented during Reunion Weekend in July.  The deadline is February 1.  Click here for award descriptions and the nomination form.

Incoming or current students can apply for an Alumni Association Scholarship in the amount of $1000.  Students must be the child or grandchild of a Potsdam alum.  The deadline for the 2009/2010 award is February 1, 2009.  Click here to download an application.

Dean of the Crane School of Music Search
The search committee is pleased to announce the candidacy of three applicants.  For further information or to view the schedule of open interview sessions, click here. Alumni and Emeriti are invited to attend the “campus open session” for each candidate.  Emeriti may also attend the “open session with faculty/staff.”

Potsdam's Dr. Neisser's “United We Fall” encourages discussing political disagreements without resolution
In Dr. Phillip T. Neisser’s “Political Ideas” class this fall, students engaged in sometimes-heated discussions about controversial topics in an effort to demonstrate how disagreement is an essential part of making democracy work. Dr. Neisser, an associate professor of politics and chair of the Department of Politics, believes we too often take the center of the road politically instead of discussing where we differ and becoming stronger for it.  (Read more)

Potsdam ICT students make major connections at educational technology conference
Six students in SUNY Potsdam’s Department of Information and Communication Technology recently attended the Association for Educational Communications and Technology (AECT) Annual Convention where they made lasting contacts, some of which led to admission in Ph.D. programs.  (Read more)

SUNY-PAEG members celebrate 20 years of educating fellow students about HIV & AIDS
Which of these statements sound true and which sound like a myth? If I am HIV-infected, I must inform my roommate, employer, coworker or professors about it. If I am HIV-infected, I cannot use recreational facilities like swimming pools. If I am HIV-infected, I am at greater risk of contracting various infections from my peers than of spreading HIV. How good is our knowledge about HIV facts and myths?  (Read more)

SUNY Potsdam faculty member authors eighth book
Dr. Biman Das, professor of physics at SUNY Potsdam, recently authored his eighth book titled “Student Pocket Companion for Physics for Scientists & Engineers,” which was published by Addison-Wesley in September 2008.  (Read more)

SUNY Potsdam SGA adopts a local family for Christmas
SUNY Potsdam’s Student Government Association recently took time out from studying for finals to spearhead the effort to adopt a local family for Christmas and the result has been more than $500 raised to help a family of five from Hopkinton.  (Read more)

New Potsdam student group works to beat hunger and homelessness
SUNY Potsdam’s student organization Campaign Against Hunger and Homelessness recently raised money for food pantries and collected warm winter clothing to help combat the issues of hunger and homeless in the region.  (Read more)

SUNY Potsdam’s Psychology Club raised money to purchase gifts
SUNY Potsdam’s Psychology Club recently raised $165 to purchase gifts for 12 children ranging in age from 2 months to 16 years old served by Cerebral Palsy of the North Country.  (Read more)

SUNY Potsdam’s Share the Holiday MAGIC (Memories and Gifts in the Community) was once again a huge success bringing in 155 gifts to support the Potsdam Holiday Fund.  (Read more)
