Two Potsdam biologists receive Hill Funding
Drs. Glenn Johnson and Jason Schreer, SUNY Potsdam Department of Biology faculty members, have received funding for research projects from the Robert J. Hill ’77 Endowment for Environmental Science. The endowment, established by Hill, a SUNY Potsdam alumnus, supports the investigation of and solutions to environmental challenges facing the Adirondack and St. Lawrence Valley regions. (Read more)
SUNY Potsdam prof co-authors groundbreaking amphibians and reptiles book
SUNY Potsdam Associate Professor of Biology Dr. Glenn Johnson has co-authored the recently released book “The Amphibians and Reptiles of New York State Identification, Natural History, and Conservation” and all royalties from the sale of the book will be used to support conservation efforts for amphibians and reptiles. Potsdam is first SUNY school to host Camp College
SUNY Potsdam has the distinction of being the first SUNY institution to host the New York State Association for College Admission Counseling Camp College, which will take place July 20 to July 22. The camp serves 150-200 under-represented high school students in New York State and encourages them to pursue a higher education. (Read more)
SUNY Potsdam's Revetta/NYPA Lab to be dedicated
A new geophysics lab in Timerman Hall designed for teaching and research that includes computer workstations, plotters and a seismograph will be officially dedicated in honor of SUNY Potsdam Distinguished Service Professor Dr. Frank Revetta who has taught geology at the College for more than 42 years, and the New York Power Authority, which donated $50,000 in support to establish the lab. Showcasing college history: SUNY Potsdam unveils new Mary E. English Commons SUNY Potsdam will unveil its new Mary E. English Commons, a permanent exhibit area designed to showcase SUNY Potsdam’s rich history and traditions dating back to the founding of the St. Lawrence Academy in 1816, in a special ceremony on Friday, July 13 at 6 p.m. in Satterlee Hall.
