SUNY Potsdam's education programs earn prestigious NCATE accreditation 
SUNY Potsdam’s School of Education and Professional Studies has earned reaccreditation by the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE). NCATE is a national accrediting body for schools, colleges and departments of education, authorized by the U.S. Department of Education. NCATE accredits institutions whose education programs meet rigorous national standards in preparing teachers and other school specialists for the classroom.  (Read more)

SUNY Potsdam Art Department awarded $88,000 grant
SUNY Potsdam’s Department of Art will purchase new equipment thanks to the recent grant of more than $88,000 from an anonymous foundation. Marc Leuthold, associate professor and head of the ceramics program at SUNY Potsdam, applied for the grant. Leuthold is the project coordinator of this equipment enhancement initiative.  (Read more)

SUNY Potsdam prof receives Distinguished Teaching Award from Mathematical Association of America 
SUNY Potsdam Professor of Mathematics Dr. Laura Person has been honored with the Mathematical Association of America (MAA) Seaway Section’s Clarence F. Stephens Distinguished Teaching Award.  (Read more)

Five Potsdam students featured in Best of SUNY Art Exhibit
Five SUNY Potsdam students are featured in this year’s Best of SUNY Student Art Exhibition that showcases the work of SUNY’s top student artists from across the state. ( Read more)

SUNY Potsdam Department of Chemistry receives grant from National Science Foundation 
Dr. David Gingrich of the SUNY Potsdam Department of Chemistry recently received a grant in the amount of $149,992 from the National Science Foundation (NSF) for a project titled “The Development of Biochemistry Laboratories Centered on Hemoglobin.” Dr. Jan Trybula of the Department of Biology is co-principal investigator.   (Read more)

Greeks give back and bond during SUNY Potsdam's Greek Week
Members of SUNY Potsdam’s fraternities and sororities were out in force during the recent “Greek Week” to help out in the community and to bond with their fellow Greeks in ways that promote the four pillars of Greek life: friendship, leadership, scholarship and community service.  (Read more)

SUNY Potsdam to use recent $1M gift for Student Life and Undergraduate Research
After months of careful planning and consultation, SUNY Potsdam has finalized the details about how its second $1 million gift, originally announced in October 2007, will be used to augment both student life and undergraduate student research opportunities.   (Read more)

Russells endow SUNY Potsdam Distance Education Faculty Excellence Award
To encourage excellence in SUNY Potsdam’s distance education program, Thomas L. and Jane D. Russell of Raleigh, NC, have endowed an award to recognize faculty who are conducting their courses in an exemplary manner, provide faculty with a financial incentive to improve their distance education courses and reward those faculty who make their courses available to as many students as possible by removing all unnecessary barriers.  (Read more)

Four SUNY Potsdam faculty members were recently honored by State University of New York Interim Chancellor John R. Ryan with the prestigious 2008 Chancellor’s Awards for Excellence.  (Read more)

SUNY Potsdam honors retirees
SUNY Potsdam recently honored those who will be retiring from the College at its annual Employee Recognition Program. The 18 retires have given a combined 403 years of service to the College.  (Read more)

SUNY Potsdam graduates 270 at Master's Commencement Ceremony
Nearly 270 master’s students were welcomed into the ranks of the more than 37,000 SUNY Potsdam alumni on Saturday, May 17, during the College’s third annual Master’s Commencement Ceremony.  (Read more)

615 Students receive Bachelor's Degrees at SUNY Potsdam
There was no hiding the excitement as approximately 615 students crossed the stage at SUNY Potsdam to receive their bachelor’s degrees during the College’s 174th Commencement Ceremony on Sunday, May 18. (Read more)

Five receive SUNY Potsdam's most prestigious scholarship
SUNY Potsdam has awarded the prestigious Mt. Emmons Scholarship to five New York state high school seniors. Brian Butts of Andover, Joseph Goehle of Lockport, Allonah Hammonds of Ogdensburg, Meghan Hopkins of Churchville and Renee Krusper of Greig were awarded the valuable and esteemed Mt.
