Washburn fund endowed for SUNY Potsdam student travel abroad
Dr. Robert and Beverly Washburn, along with SUNY Potsdam alumni, faculty and friends have endowed The Robert Washburn Fund for Crane School of Music student travel in honor of Dr. Robert Washburn, dean and faculty emeritus of Crane. The 2008-2009 State University of New York Strategic Initiative Capital Project Budget includes $55 million for SUNY Potsdam to design and construct a visionary Performing Arts and Technology building on campus that will bring a state-of-the-art facility to the campus’ thriving arts programs. SUNY Potsdam prof awarded research grant: Students to study in Canada
Dr. Michael Rygel, an assistant professor of geology at SUNY Potsdam, recently was awarded $50,000 by the American Chemical Society’s Petroleum Research Fund for his proposal “Alluvial Architecture of the Springhill Mines and Ragged Reef Formations: Fluvial Reservoir Characteristics Linked to Paleogeomorphology.” The funding will be used to cover field expenses and summer stipends for undergraduate geology majors to serve as research assistants this summer through summer 2010. Senator Griffo secures funding for arts outreach program at SUNY Potsdam
New York State Senator Joseph A. Griffo has secured $40,000 in the 2008-2009 state budget agreement that will enable the Community Performance Series (CPS) Meet the Arts Program, in residence at SUNY Potsdam, to continue and enhance its arts outreach and programming to school children throughout northern New York.
