Explore the Future of Green Chemistry at Regional American Chemical Society Conference at SUNY Potsdam
SUNY Potsdam will host the 37th Northeast Regional Meeting of the American Chemical Society from June 2 to 5 on its campus. The conference will feature a variety of speakers, symposia and other events, and is expected to draw 500 scholars and students from across New England and Canada, as well as some from as far as California and Germany. Award-Winning CNN News Producer Will Receive Honorary Degree, Speak to SUNY Potsdam Graduates at Commencement

SUNY Potsdam alumna Kathleen Friery '84 is set to share her firsthand knowledge of what it takes to cover breaking news from around the globe in an address to graduating seniors at the College's 176th Bachelor's Commencement Ceremony on Sunday, May 23. The executive producer of "AC360°," the nightly CNN newscast anchored by Anderson Cooper, Friery will receive an Honorary Doctorate of Humane Letters from the State University of New York at Potsdam in recognition of her courage and commitment in delivering breaking news to millions of viewers around the world. Friery will also deliver the keynote address to approximately 600 bachelor's graduates, along with hundreds of their family members and friends. (Read more)

Lt. Col. David Johnson Set as Keynote Speaker for SUNY Potsdam's Master's Commencement Ceremony

SUNY Potsdam alumnus Lt. Col. David Johnson '77 is set to share his experiences as an educator and a soldier with graduating master's students at his alma mater. As the featured speaker for the College's 176th Master's Commencement Ceremony, he will deliver the keynote address to 200 master's graduates, along with their family members and friends, on Saturday, May 22 in the Helen M. Hosmer Concert Hall. "SUNY Potsdam is pleased to welcome David Johnson as our featured Master's Commencement speaker. His leadership, integrity and dedication are prime examples of what we hope every Potsdam graduate will achieve," College President Dr. John F. Schwaller said. (Read more)

Wally Siebel named Recipient of SUNY Potsdam's 2010 Roger B. Linden Distinguished Service Award

SUNY Potsdam has named Wally Siebel '68 as the recipient of its 2010 Roger B. Linden Distinguished Service Award, the highest award given by the College. The annual recognition is bestowed upon an individual who has demonstrated steadfast support for SUNY Potsdam through their leadership, advocacy, stewardship and service. "Wally is truly deserving of this honor," said SUNY Potsdam President Dr. John F. Schwaller. "He has become one of the most significant ambassadors for the College and the Crane School of Music as a successful musician, entrepreneur and gourmet chef. (Read more)

SUNY Potsdam Anthropology Alumni Present at Conference

Six SUNY Potsdam alumni made a big splash in April at the American Association of Physical Anthropology National Meeting in Albuquerque, New Mexico. All of the students presented posters on their current research, a large showing for graduates of any anthropology program. (Read more)
