SUNY Potsdam Scholarship honors FDNY Firefighter who died in 9/11 attacks
A SUNY Potsdam scholarship recently was endowed to honor alumnus Captain William F. Burke, Jr. who died in the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center.  (Read more)

SUNY Potsdam employee is given special thanks for helping students
SUNY Potsdam (l to r) Assistant Facilities Program Coordinator Karen M. O'Brien, President Dr. John F. Schwaller and Head Janitor Theresa M. Green thank Lehman Hall Cleaner Robin Harper (second from left) for the selflessness she displayed in helping families involved in a car accident near campus. Harper happened upon the accident just after it occurred as she was on her way home after her shift at the College.  (Read more)

Potsdam's Snee wins prestigious political communications research award
SUNY Potsdam Associate Professor of English and Communication Dr. Brian J. Snee recently was awarded the 2008 Bruce E. Gronbeck Political Communication Research Award from The Carl Couch Center for his work with co-editor Thomas W. Benson on the book “The Rhetoric of the New Political Documentary.”  (Read more)

Potsdam's Washburn honored with NYSSMA's 2008 Distinguished Service Award 
The New York State School Music Association has named SUNY Potsdam Professor and Dean Emeritus Dr. Robert Washburn, Class of 1949, its 2008 Distinguished Service Award winner.  (Read more)

Potsdam's Baker awarded fellowship at Center for Jefferson Studies
SUNY Potsdam Associate Professor of History Dr. Thomas N. Baker recently was awarded a month-long fellowship at the Robert H. Smith International Center for Jefferson Studies at Monticello, the former home of third U.S. President Thomas Jefferson.  (Read more)

Potsdam presents John D'Addario, Jr. an honorary doctorate from SUNY
John D’Addario, Jr., the eighth generation of the D’Addario family involved in the musical instrument string business and president of The D’Addario Music Foundation, recently was presented an Honorary Doctorate of Humane Letters from SUNY Potsdam, on behalf of the State University of New York.  (Read more)

Potsdam chemistry prof garners $550K Department of Defense Grant
Research studies proposed by SUNY Potsdam Chemistry Professor Maria Hepel about the “Development and Characterization of Nanosensors and Sensor Arrays for Biomarkers Related to Autism” have been awarded by the U.S. Department of Defense under the program “Idea,” with a three-year grant of $550,000.   (Read more)

SUNY Potsdam’s Roland Gibson Art Gallery recently was enriched with gifts of art from the Andy Warhol Foundation worth more than $130,000.  (Read more)
