SUNY Potsdam moves to test optional policy
In an effort to move to a more holistic admissions process that examines students' individual abilities and focus on more reliable measures of student success, SUNY Potsdam is moving to an SAT/ACT optional policy.  (Read more)

SUNY Potsdam attracted 13 students at the top of their class for the fall semester
SUNY Potsdam welcomed 13 incoming freshmen students at the top of their class for the fall semester, including five valedictorians and eight salutatorians.  (Read more)

Potsdam students study marine environment rocks & fossils in U.S. and Canada
Three SUNY Potsdam geology students and their professor spent part of their summer collecting rock and fossil samples from West Virginia to Canada and will now document changes in marine environments that occurred as the Appalachian Mountains began to form and the effect of those changes on the organisms that lived in the shallow sea.  (Read more)

NSF Grant to enhance chem & bio faculty and student research
SUNY Potsdam Assistant Professor of Chemistry Dr. Fadi Bou-Abdallah recently was awarded $126,525 from the National Science Foundation for a project titled "MRI: Acquisition of an Isothermal Titration Calorimeter" that will bring cutting-edge technology to SUNY Potsdam, Clarkson University and St. Lawrence University.  (Read more)

Potsdam Alumnus delivers keynote to student leaders
William J. Edwards of Webster returned to campus recently to deliver the keynote address at SUNY Potsdam's 2009 Dr. Millard Harmon Student Leader Conference.  (Read more)

Potsdam Librarian receives national recognition
SUNY Potsdam Librarian Jane M. Subramanian has been honored as one of two winners of the Music Library Association's national competition titled "Best of Chapters."  (Read more)

SUNY Potsdam's Moerschell authors leadership book
They say that the true test of a leader is how he or she behaves during a crisis. SUNY Potsdam Instructor Dr. Linda Moerschell has authored the book, "The Spontaneous Nature of Leadership Emergence: A Humanitarian Phenomenon Ignited by Sudden and Unexpected Change," which helps to address that adage.  (Read more)

Westerling receives recognition for achievement in chemistry
SUNY Potsdam Chemistry Instructional Support Associate Janice A. Westerling has been recognized as a certified scientific materials manager by the National Association of Scientific Materials Managers (NAOSMM).  (Read more)

Rose & Kiernan Scholarship Awarded to a North Country Student
The Rose & Kiernan Scholarship will be awarded for the seventh consecutive year to a North Country student who attends SUNY Potsdam. Rose & Kiernan, a Potsdam insurance firm, supports the annual $1,000 scholarship each year.  (Read more)

Stewart's donates to NCSTEP and CPS
Stewart's Shops recently awarded $1,000 to SUNY Potsdam's North Country Science and Technology Entry Program (NCSTEP) for its Summer Science and Technology Camps and gave $2,000 to Community Performance Series in support of their "Meet the Arts" program.  (Read more)
