SUNY Potsdam's Dr. Fossum on leave to work at National Science Foundation
Dr. Timothy Fossum, professor and chair of SUNY Potsdam’s Department of Computer Science, will be on leave for a year to serve as a program director with the National Science Foundation (NSF) in Washington, D.C.  (Read more)

Father and son help bring fresh water to small Costa Rican village
Joe Sarnoff, SUNY Potsdam director of retention programs, and his son, Phil Sarnoff, , traveled to Costa Rica to volunteer through Volunteer Visions working on a project that when complete will supply the village of Macquenco with a water supply that will last during the dry season. (Read more)

SUNY Potsdam ranked among top universities in the north by U.S. News & World Report
For the ninth consecutive year, SUNY Potsdam is ranked among the top public and private regional universities in the northern United States in the University-Master’s category of the 2008 edition of U.S. News & World Report’s guide, “America’s Best Colleges.”  (Read more)

SUNY Potsdam welcomes a record number of freshmen to campus
850 new first-time students and 340 transfer students made their way to campus this fall. The College also welcomed 41 new teaching faculty and 16 new professional staff members to the campus community this year.  (Read more)

SUNY Potsdam's Dr. Johnson-Weiner to spend sabbatical in France researching Amish
SUNY Potsdam Associate Professor of Anthropology Dr. Karen Johnson-Weiner will spend her upcoming yearlong sabbatical in France delivering two lectures and researching the Amish culture to write the manuscripts for two books.  (Read more)

Potsdam faculty member creates medal given to Yoko Ono by Longhouse Reserve
SUNY Potsdam Associate Professor of Art Marc Leuthold recently was commissioned by LongHouse Reserve of East Hampton, NY, to create the LongHouse Medal, an annual award given to distinguished creative people.  (Read more)

Grand Canyon mural unveiling at SUNY Potsdam
Julian Vadas, a SUNY Potsdam senior studio art major from Potsdam, spent his entire summer painting a 30-foot mural of the Grand Canyon that is located in the stairwell of Timerman Hall for the Department of Geology.  (Read more)
