Current Students and Alumni Soloists Perform The Verdi Requiem in Potsdam AND New York City
As part of the Lougheed-Kofoed Festival of the Arts and in celebration of Crane’s 125th Anniversary, The Crane Chorus and Crane Symphony Orchestra will perform Verdi’s monumental Messa da Requiem under the baton of Ann Howard Jones, the 2012 Dorothy Albrecht Gregory Visiting Conductor. The guest soloists are Kelly Kaduce and Charles Temkey, and Crane School of Music alumni Margaret Lattimore ’91 and Dimitri Pittas ’99. The Requiem will be performed at SUNY Potsdam’s Helen M. Hosmer Concert Hall on April 28, 2012, as part of a week of masterclasses, lectures and workshops in Potsdam, which are open to the public.  For more information, see the Schedule of Events.  It will then be performed in New York City at Avery Fisher Hall, Lincoln Center, on May 1.  The New York City performance is made possible by the Adeline Maltzan Crane Chorus Performance Tour Fund, funded by Dr. Gary C. Jaquay ’67, with additional support from the bequest of Brock and Janie McElheran.

Note - A bus from Albany, NY is being organized by Ann Bullock, wife of alumnus Robert Bullock '78 and parent of a current Crane student, to attend the May 1st concert in New York City.  Price for the concert and transportation will be approximately $50 per person.  Please note this Does Not include the cost of the alumni reception prior to the concert.  If you are interested in transportation from Albany for this event, please contact Ann directly at acbullock@juno.com.  A few seats are still available.  For more information, view details about  this and other events  online.

Alumni Participation in Giving Places Us at Top
Through the incredible generosity of our alumni, Potsdam ranks 1st among our SUNY peers in the total amount given by our alumni and 1st in percentage of undergraduate alumni who give back to the College (10.4%). We’re also 2nd in dollars raised per student and 3rd in the size of our endowment per student.  Given that we’re one of the smallest Universities in our peer group, this is quite extraordinary.  Thank you, alumni! Help us remain at the top – answer your phone when you see a call from SUNY Potsdam - student callers from The Buzz (aka phonathon) want to talk to you! Or, make your gift now!

Video of the Month
