Alumni Concert Series part of The Crane School of Music's 125th Celebration The Crane School of Music is pleased to announce that a series of alumni concerts will be held during the 2011-2012 academic year as part of its 125th celebration. The first concert will be held on September 13, 2011 at 7:30 p.m. in the Snell Theater and will feature Michelle Shoemaker '95 on clarinet and Vanessa Mulvey '90 on flute. The "Revelia Duo" will perform a recital that includes some of their favorite pieces along with works that celebrate their connection to the Crane School of Music.
Future Alumni Concert Series dates are as follows: September 27 & October 18, 2011 and January 31 & February 21, 2012. All concerts are on Tuesdays at 7:30 p.m. in the Snell Theater. Additional information will be made available when we are able to confirm the calendars of our scheduled alumni performers.
SUNY Potsdam Yearbooks Are Now Digitized We are pleased to announce that the full run of the College yearbooks have now been digitized and are available for use online at http://history.nnyln.org/nc-sunypotsdam.php. The online yearbooks are also keyword searchable. The first edition of the yearbook dates back to 1897; between 1898 and 1904 there were two yearbooks issued - one in February and another in June. The run of yearbooks was printed continuously through 1996, followed by a yearbook in 1998, and its final edition in 2002. Thus, yearbooks were not published for 1997 and 1999-2001, and ceased entirely after 2002. Although many are familiar with the yearbook name of "Pioneer", there were also other names used for older years. Some of these are: "Souvenir of the Graduating Class", "Senior Class Book", "The Annual" and similar name variations. The College Archives and Special Collections and the College Libraries are very grateful to the Northern New York Library Network, whose assistance both with a NNYLN Technology Grant and with providing staff to accomplish the work, was significant in the accomplishment of the project. The run of the Racquette student newspaper from its beginning in 1927 through May 2009 was already previously digitized and is also keyword searchable.
Annual Association Meeting Notice The annual Alumni Association business will be conducted on Sunday, July 17, 2011 at 9:00 a.m., including the approval of the 2011-12 trustees and proposed amendments to the Constitution and Bylaws.
Please note the following correct Class Note from an error printed in the spring 2011 Class Notes Section of Potsdam People: Carol Bryant ’80 recently opened Bluebird Music Together, a licensed center of Music Together LLC, an internationally recognized early childhood music education program. Bluebird Music Together serves the western suburbs of Syracuse and the city of Auburn with family music and movement classes for infants through kindergartners, together with the adults who love them.
