We Need Your Input to Improve SUNY Potsdam’s Website!

We Want Your Class Notes for the Fall Issue of the Alumni Magazine, Potsdam People!
Submit your class notes to us by June 15, 2012 to be included in the fall issue of Potsdam People.  Submissions after the deadline will be considered for the spring 2013 issue.  Class notes can be submitted to alumni@potsdam.edu.

Academic Search Alumni Edition, Available to SUNY Potsdam Alumni!
Many SUNY Potsdam graduates are familiar with the breadth of information resources provided by the College Libraries, and many alumni miss having that seamless access to high-quality online information. If this is you, we're proud to offer a solution: Academic Search Alumni Edition. Designed for the research needs of the post-college professional, this database provides full text for nearly 2,400 journals as well as indexing and abstracting for more than 7,370 journals. Academic Search™ Alumni Edition offers information in nearly every area of academic study including biology, chemistry, engineering, physics, psychology, religion & theology, and more. Any SUNY Potsdam alumnus with a Potsdam e-mail address can access Academic Search Alumni Edition online and login with your Potsdam account information. (If you are an alumnus who wishes to have a SUNY Potsdam e-mail account set up, contact the Alumni Relations Office for assistance at (315) 267-2120 or complete the online form.  This special alumni database is part of the SUNYConnect program, which provides access to information resources for all 64 SUNY campuses. If you have questions about using Academic Search Alumni Edition, please contact the College Libraries for help.

Reunion Weekend 2012: Register Now for NO Fee!
Register by June 30th to receive free registration!  The weekend schedule, registration information and a list of registered alumni and friends can be found online.  Printed materials can be found in the spring issue of the alumni magazine, Potsdam People.  We look forward to seeing you in July!

Photographs from Crane’s New York City Performance
Photos from the May 1 performance of Verdi’s Requiem in NYC, including photos of the alumni reception, are available for purchase through SUNY Potsdam’s new Flickr account.  (Flickr is an on-line photo sharing site.)  There is no charge to view the photos;  you are only charged if you choose to order a photo.  This is the first time we have used this service and we’re hoping to use it for future events, so let us know what you think!

Annual Association Meeting Notice
The annual Alumni Association business will be conducted on Sunday, July 15, 2012 at 9 a.m., including the approval of the 2012-13 trustees and proposed amendments to the Constitution and Bylaws.

All Alumni Gifts Make an Impact on Our Students
It's not too late!  The College's fundraising year will close on June 30. All gifts received from you by that date will count in Potsdam's total support and toward our ranking for alumni participation in giving. Last year, Potsdam's alumni participation placed us at 15th in the nation among all reporting public master's degree institutions. Hundreds Attend Crane School of Music Lincoln Center Concert
More than 2,000 people gave a raucous standing ovation as students from SUNY Potsdam’s Crane School of Music performed on the stage of Avery Fisher Hall, Lincoln Center on May 1. World-renowned conductor Ann Howard Jones led the Crane Chorus and Crane Symphony Orchestra in a performance of Verdi’s Messa da Requiem, alongside four superb vocal soloists—three of whom attended Crane.  (Read More)

1984 Potsdam grad Luckie to officiate in third straight Final Four
Jamie Luckie, an Ogdensburg native and 1984 Graduate of SUNY Potsdam, was selected by the NCAA to officiate during the Men’s Division I Basketball Championship this weekend. This will be Luckie’s third consecutive Final Four and 13th straight NCAA Tournament.  (Read More)

SUNY Potsdam Student Earns Prestigious Shining Star Award
SUNY Potsdam student Natalie Francis, a senior from the Bronx, N.Y., recently received the Shining Star Award, the highest accolade given every year by the College’s Student Support Services. Francis was among nearly 100 SUNY Potsdam students who were honored for their academic achievements during the Fall 2011 semester by Student Support Services at its annual student awards reception.  (Read More)

Research Scientist, Sharklet Inventor Received Honorary Degree, Spoke at SUNY Potsdam Graduation
Revolutionary scientist and inventor Dr. Anthony B. Brennan ’75 encouraged SUNY Potsdam students to unlock their full visionary potential, when he addressed graduating seniors at the College’s 2012 Bachelor’s Commencement Ceremony on May 20th.  (Read More)

Emerita Returned to Conduct Concert, Symphonic Bands at Crane
Professor Emerita Dr. Rebekah C. Covell was a member of The Crane School of Music faculty for 25 years. During her tenure at Crane, she served as conductor of the Crane Symphonic Band, and taught conducting, basic musicianship, theory and sight singing. Additionally, she designed and developed the music business program.  (Read More)
