Passing of Faculty Emerita Annette Plante
It is with great sadness that we report the passing of faculty emerita, Annette Plante. Mme. Plante taught in the French department for many years at SUNY Potsdam and remained active in the Potsdam community. There will be no calling hours. Her obituary can be viewed online.
Happy 196th Birthday SUNY Potsdam!
The College will be celebrating its 196th Birthday on March 26, 2012 at Noon in the Barrington Student Union. All are invited to this Charter Day celebration. The first book signing of the Arcadia Publishing’s Campus History series photographic book on SUNY Potsdam will be held from 1 - 3 p.m. in the Barrington Student Union Lobby after the Charter Day celebration. Authored by SUNY Potsdam alumnae Jane Gatta Subramanian ’72 and Virginia Rose Cayey ’60, the book boasts more than 200 vintage images and memories of days gone by. The book is available for purchase through the SUNY Potsdam Bookstore and through Amazon. (Read More)

Crane 125th Events – in Potsdam AND New York City!
In celebration of Crane’s 125th Anniversary, many alumni will be returning to campus to perform and participate in events scheduled throughout the year. This includes both a Potsdam and New York City performance by The Crane Chorus and Crane Symphony Orchestra of Verdi’s monumental Messa da Requiem under the baton of Ann Howard Jones, the 2012 Dorothy Albrecht Gregory Visiting Conductor. Note: A bus from Albany, NY is being organized by Ann Bullock, wife of alumnus Robert Bullock '78 and parent of a current Crane student, to attend the May 1st concert in New York City. Price for the concert and transportation will be approximately $50 per person. Please note that this Does Not include the cost of the alumni reception prior to the concert. If you are interested in transportation from Albany for this event, please contact Ann directly at acbullock@juno.com.

SUNY Potsdam Locates 'Lost' Norman Rockwell Cover from University's 1919 Alumni Magazine
SUNY Potsdam recently unearthed a forgotten gem hidden in the stacks of the College Archives and Special Collections at Frederick W. Crumb Memorial Library. A 93-year-old College alumni magazine cover with original art by famed American illustrator Norman Rockwell was recently discovered by the SUNY Potsdam archivist, Matt Francis. (Read More)
SUNY Potsdam 'Black History Leap Year' Events Focus on Diversity
As part of its ongoing campus discussion about diversity, SUNY Potsdam plans to “lengthen” Black History Month with a series of important on-campus events that will stretch into the beginning of March to continue the conversation about how and why matters of racial and ethnic difference affect both campus and community. Dean Peter Brouwer Gives Talk About Intellectual Development
Dr. Peter Brouwer, Dean of the School of Education and Professional Studies opened the spring semester of the College’s Disciplined Inquiry in Education Series with a seminar. The presentation considered the influential work of William Perry, who developed the Perry Model of student intellectual development. His model provides a framework for understanding how students’ conception of knowledge develops over time, particularly during the college years. (Read More)

CPS Announces Disney's 'Beauty & the Beast' as 2012 Summer Musical
Community Performance Series is proud to announce its 2012 summer musical: Disney’s “Beauty and the Beast,” one of Broadway’s modern classics, inspired by the Oscar-winning animated version of the age-old fairy tale. “Beauty and the Beast” will be presented from Tuesday, July 31 to Saturday, Aug. 4 in the Sara M.
