SUNY Potsdam Alumna Stephanie Blythe ’92 Returns To Campus for the 2012 Fall Island Vocal Arts Seminar
Professional opera singer Stephanie Blythe ’92, along with renowned collaborative pianist, vocal coach and composer Alan Smith, will work with singers and performers selected through a competitive national audition process as part of the 2012 Fall Island Vocal Seminar on campus during May 21-26, 2012.  The Seminar’s mission is to encourage autonomous artistry in the emerging artist-level performers.  Various events, including master classes and concerts, will take place during the week long seminar and many are open to the public.  (Read More)

Five Bears named to ECAC West All-Academic Team
Five members of the SUNY Potsdam women’s hockey team have been named to the ECAC Women’s West All-Academic team for the 2011-2012 season. To be named to the team, student-athletes must have completed at least one academic year, have a cumulative grade-point average of at least 3.00 on a 4.00 scale, and have competed in at least one-half of their team’s contests during the current season. A goaltender must have played at least 33 percent of her team's minutes. (Read More)

SUNY Potsdam Hosts First Lougheed-Kofoed Festival of the Arts
The Lougheed-Kofoed Festival of the Arts resurrects the tradition of a dynamic and comprehensive campus spring festival, bringing together all of the arts disciplines including theatre, dance, vocal and instrumental performances, visual arts exhibitions, creative writing programs and lectures featuring guest artists.  The festival also serves to unite faculty, staff, students and community in the creative process. Families and Students Dug Up Some Fun at SUNY Potsdam’s Rock & Fossil Fair
SUNY Potsdam geologists and paleontologists were on hand to identify rocks, minerals and fossils visitors brought from home. The fair also featured a fossil dig that allowed participants to dig through sand to find fossils to keep, and a “mineral mine,” where minerals and rocks were waiting to be discovered. (Read More)

SUNY Potsdam Musical Theatre Group Presented 'A Chorus Line'
This production of “A Chorus Line” was entirely student-run, under the advisement of Crane vocal professor Dr. Lonel Woods, with the cast and production crew made up of 28 students who major in subjects varying from sociology to history to secondary education – not just music, dance and theatre. All of the performers onstage felt a piece of what the characters in “A Chorus Line” felt, having to work hard in the day to survive in order to be able to perform their art in the evening.
