Welcome to our freshman class of 2011, comprised of approximately 920 incoming freshmen, as well as the 523 new transfer students who will join the SUNY Potsdam student body. A special “congratulations” to all of the multi-generation SUNY Potsdam Alumni families represented by these incoming students. Don’t forget to share your photos with us, particularly those representing multi-generations of alumni. We’ll use them on our website and link them in future Alma Matters as space allows. Attention All Bears Athletics Alumni!
The SUNY Potsdam athletic department is proud to announce the launch of a new athletics website. The new site will feature information on the Bears' 15 varsity athletic programs and one club sport, as well as intramurals and other general information. Check it out at www.potsdambears.com.
Outstanding Alumni Performance Series
In celebration of the 125th Anniversary of Crane, there will be several on-campus performances featuring prominent alumni throughout the year. All will be at 7:30 p.m. in Snell Hall. The September performances include Vanessa Mulvey ’90 (Flute) on September 13th and Michelle Shoemaker ’95 (Clarinet) on September 27th. Chancellor Zimpher Announces Creation of SUNY Campus Alliance Networks
State University of New York Chancellor Nancy L. Zimpher announced on August 4, 2011 that SUNY campus presidents and System Administration will collaboratively develop and implement regional SUNY Campus Alliance Networks, which will expand academic resources and course availability for students while increasing efficiency within the SUNY system. Crane Opera Ensemble Receives National Award for Performance The Crane Opera Ensemble's spring 2010 production of "L'Enfant et les Sortilèges" was awarded First Place in the American Prize in Operatic Performance competition for 2011. With music by Maurice Ravel and libretto by Collette, the opera was produced by student singers, instrumentalists and stage crew from SUNY Potsdam and its Crane School of Music. (Read More)
2011-12 CPS Season Showcases New & Electrifying Artists
Community Performance Series is pleased to announce its upcoming season, featuring renowned guest musicians, dance and programs for the whole family. The 2011-12 CPS season will begin this September and continue through May 2012. (Read More)
SUNY Potsdam Chosen to Host one of 30 New York 9/11 Exhibitions
In recognition of the tenth anniversary of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks, SUNY Potsdam was chosen to serve as one of 30 host sites throughout the state for a “New York Remembers” exhibition. Many of the artifacts being exhibited have never been seen by the public. The exhibition will be open during the week of Aug. 29 and continue until the end of September.
